02 Editorial Design (01): Narrative & Curatorial Photography IOW 400.1 (Redone)
Project Summary
In this project we were required to curate a series of images through using one or more visual qualities like shape, texture, pattern, colour and tone values, and form. These images should form a coherent narrative which should immediately convey a story which can either be interpreted easily yet remain abstract.

Technical Specifications
The images need to be comprised of three documentary and two fashion images that doesn’t need to tell an obvious or literal story and should remain abstract and open to interpretation. We had to capture the beauty in something we see everyday that is usually overlooked. The series of photos had to be edited to grey scale which creates emphasis on the visual qualities that we wanted to explore.

List of Deliverables
1)Process Work
1) A unique series of 5 images, presented on a single image/canvas
2) 3 greyscale documentary photos
3) 2 greyscale or colour fashion photos

Design Strategy
Texture is probably something we encounter every day. From holding your toothbrush to seeing the gravel road when you drive somewhere. In texture we can find patterns and in some other patterns we can sometimes even get a sense of a texture. My work embodies this experience and visually portrays various texture and patterned elements that we encounter on a daily basis.
One of the specifications of this project was to shoor in black and white and find the beauty in ordinary, everyday objects that we take for granted. This most definitely enhanced the visual qualities that I decided to focus on when taking my photographs.
The narrative is completely open to interpretation, but every image does have a purpose. The placement was purposefully done where all the elements in the photographs could interact and engage with one another. You might need to look further than what is on the screen, but the underlining message will forever be present in this series. Without texture, the world would most definitely be a dull place.

Redo Project
I am the most proud of this particular project because I pushed myself to the limit with experimenting in photography. Personally I feel like I would like to redo this project because I feel that the overall narrative could have been better presented in a visual way. I was guided by my project leader in a direction that I was not particularly fond of and would much rather have used other photographs in my series. That is why I decided to redo this project. To show the best possible version that this project could be.
